Temporal Analysis of Bitcoin Mining Completion

**Temporal Analysis of Bitcoin Mining Completion**

Bitcoin mining, an integral part of the blockchain ecosystem, is projected to reach completion around 2140. This study applies statistical modeling to historical mining data to provide a precise estimate of this milestone.

Our analysis reveals that the halving of block rewards, a programmed event in Bitcoin’s algorithm, significantly influences mining completion time. We find that the halvings have a cumulative effect, slowing down the rate of mining and extending the estimated completion date.

Furthermore, our time-series analysis suggests that the current mining difficulty adjustment algorithm is highly reactive to changes in network hashrate, leading to a consistent but variable pace of mining completion. These findings have implications for Bitcoin’s monetary policy and long-term viability.
