Conceal Guardian Update – Conceal Network
For those that don’t what the Conceal Guardian is, a quick introduction. Conceal Guardian is a service that monitors the Conceal Daemon. Daemon is a blockchain node basically meant to run all the time in the background. The Guardian was designed for two purposes in mind:
- To ensure that the daemon runs properly and restart it, if it does not. This ensures high availability.
- To later enable more features for the node thus making “Smart Nodes” a monetized part of the Conceal ecosystem.
Stability
For now we are using it for running remote nodes for the network and it proved quite valuable. However even if it was mostly running fine it still had bugs which cause occasional down times and problems. So we redesigned some parts to make it more stable and reliable and at the same time added some new features. The Guardian and Daemon should now run smoothly over longer periods of time without any significant down times.
If you still manage to find bugs notify us on Discord or raise an issue on our Github. We will try to fix is asap.
New Features
There are two new features worth mentioning.
First is the auto update feature for the Daemon and we urge everyone to enable it. Just run the setup again and select it when asked. This will make sure that your node is always up to date with the latest daemon. If you do not want this feature simply disable it (it’s disabled by default).
Second feature is a web base dashboard for the Guardian. This is important because it enables you to see if your node is running properly directly from the browser and you can also check the logs for both the Guardian and the Daemon inside the browser. You do not need to SSH to your VPS or search for log files on your machine.

And finally you can see the peers your node is connected to. It shows you where all you are connected to other nodes.
Later we will add more features as the “Smart Nodes” mature and get more sophisticated.

If you want to upgrade to this latest version from the existing one, simply stop your Guardian and untar or unzip the content over it. Just be sure not to overwrite config.json, otherwise you will have to do the setup again. From now on you can then upgrade the Guardian by command line automatically. Just check the instructions in the documentation.
