1. Base Announces Onchain Summer in August
Base has announced an exciting new online event - Onchain Summer – which will take place from August 1st to August 30th. The event will be entirely free and open to anyone interested in blockchain or cryptocurrency. Onchain Summer will consist of live talks, virtual networking and interactive demos from blockchain demonstrators. 2. Record-breaking Numbers of NFT Mints
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) which allow token holders to have digital scarcity have been increasing significantly in 2020-2021. There have been some record-breaking numbers for NFTs minting and sales.
Steady Growth Since the beginning of 2021, the daily record for mints has broken all-time highs repeatedly. On March 17th, the 24-hour record for mints nearly doubled to 5.27 million. Similarly, the 7-day record for mints has also reached 10.14 million on March 18th.
- As of the end of March, a whopping 15.7 million NFTs have been minted since the beginning of the month.
- At the same time, Etherscan has recorded a volume of 907,000 Ether in NFTs trading.
What’s driving this growth? Ultimately, it’s the demand for digital collectibles, scarcity, and the use of blockchain. The growing popularity of CryptoPunks, NBA Top Shot, Star Wars digital cards, Chainlink merchandise, and other distinctive NFTs have been driving more people to purchase, invest, or use them daily.
3. Reception of Onchain Summer from Users
Onchain Summer, the compilation of digital projects and virtual events produced by the on-chain governance network TALK, received an overwhelmingly positive response from users. According to survey results, a large majority of participants gave excellent ratings.
- Over 90% of users reported satisfaction with the overall event.
- 78% of the participants characterized the concept of the event as “groundbreaking”.
