The Finite Nature of Bitcoin: Quantifying Satoshi Availability
The finite nature of Bitcoin, with its maximum supply of 21 million units, has been a subject of considerable interest and debate. In this study, we present a comprehensive analysis of the current distribution of Bitcoin, quantifying the availability of Satoshi, the smallest unit of Bitcoin. Our findings reveal that a significant portion of the total Bitcoin supply is concentrated in a small number of addresses, while a large number of addresses hold negligible amounts. The skewed distribution suggests that the finite nature of Bitcoin may have implications for its liquidity and price stability in the long term. Understanding the patterns of Bitcoin ownership can aid policymakers and stakeholders in addressing potential risks associated with the scarcity of Bitcoin.
