Nishad Singh’s Lawyers Ask Judge to Spare Him Prison, Say He Is an ‘Uncommonly Selfless Individual’

Lawyers for Nishad Singh, the former FTX engineering director who pleaded guilty to fraud charges in December, have urged a federal judge to spare him prison time, describing their client as an “uncommonly selfless individual.”

In a sentencing memorandum filed Thursday, Singh’s attorneys argued that he played a minor role in the FTX collapse, cooperated with investigators, and deserves leniency in light of his remorse and good deeds. They cited his philanthropic efforts, including donating $50,000 to a charity for victims of Hurricane Ian prior to FTX’s downfall.

“Mr. Singh is not the face of the catastrophe that FTX’s collapse created. He is a young man who made mistakes, and he has owned them,” the memo states.
