The fourth edition of Adopting Bitcoin finished nearly two weeks ago, bringing together builders and high-signal discussions to the beautiful country of El Salvador.
This year it was hosted for the first time in the professional venue, Salamanca Eventos y Experiencias, perhaps one of the most picturesque event spaces ever seen.
Over two vibrant days, hundreds of people from around the world, insightful panels and presentations, unique side activities, and unforgettable moments—that’s Adopting Bitcoin 2024 in a nutshell.
A standout aspect was its dedicated program for families and children, marking an important step in making the conference engaging for all attendees, regardless of age.
“Bitcoin Para Niños, created in collaboration with the project Bitcoin Junior Club: Sovereign Generation, and supported by local and global initiatives focused on youth and education,” offered free admission to all Adopting Bitcoin ticket holders, with no purchase necessary for anyone under 18.
Kicking off on the first morning in a lovely outdoor area specifically prepared for young participants, the program focused on games and mini-tournaments, creative workshops, playful songs, screenings, and reading sessions.
Due to heavy rain, the program moved indoors on the second day, but it remained focused on engaging young minds with Bitcoin, integrity, personal sovereignty, and freedom.
The age range of younger participants varied from toddlers to teens up to 16 years old, with the main group being 2-11 years old. Many parents also joined the space, enjoying the available attractions with their kiddos and often actively supporting the core team to ensure safety, and the positive overall vibe.
Many children stayed in the area for nearly the entire duration of both event days, learning new things while making friends with both younger and older attendees. One young participant reflected, ‘Now I see it’s not just my dad who talks about Bitcoin all the time—there are so many friendly Bitcoiners out there!’
The schedule featured a wide variety of activities, including, for example:
- The BTC Truth Hunt, an interactive session followed by creative workshops to explore the Bitcoin ethos.
- A gamified course by EconoKidz introducing youngsters to essential of economics like fiat money vs. bitcoin.
- An engaging chat with Benjamin Colombier, author of Adventures of The Little Honey Badger.
- Various screenings featuring titles like Tuttle Twins, Lego Stories, and a few family-friendly music video clips
- A fun game called Hodling Bitcoin, co-organized by Reyna Chicas from Mi Primer Bitcoin.
- Collective readings of books like If You Give a Monster a Bitcoin by Shamory and Flowers for Mom (Super Kay Adventures) by Tali Lindberg, which sparked open discussions, simple games, and artistic expression.
One of the standout highlights was the Satventure Hunt by SatoshisKids, where participants of all ages followed clues hidden around the venue to uncover a treasure of sats and other exciting prizes. Another special moment came with a soft-panel featuring kids and teens (ages 8–13) as the main guests, sharing their personal stories and observations of all kinds.
Despite challenging weather and a few minor technical hiccups, the collaborative efforts of the main host and an incredible group of volunteers ensured the event’s success. Attendees—both young participants and their guardians—described it as an “unforgettable experience“.
