Scopely has rebranded the Niantic games team behind games like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now as Scopely Explore.
Scopely Explore has not been spun out as a separate company or subsidiary, but will instead sit as a “mission-driven team” within the main company, the Monopoly Go developer confirmed.
Scopely – which acquired Niantic for $3.5bn last year – said the new branding “reflects a mission that has guided these teams from the very beginning.”
“Exploration sits at the heart of these games and experiences, and the communities they serve,” it added. “Whether encouraging players to discover new places, connect with others, or experience the world in new ways, this team has always been united by a belief that there is more to explore.”
Scopely Explore says it will continue building experiences that inspire people to get outside, connect, and explore the world “for many years to come as part of Scopely.”
