Metaplanet has achieved its goal for fiscal year 2025 by acquiring 35,102 bitcoins, though it reported an unrealized loss of ¥102.2 billion ($665 million). Despite this financial setback, the company aims to continue its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy, setting a new target of 100,000 bitcoins by 2026. This approach aligns with a broader trend among Japanese firms, which are increasingly incorporating Bitcoin into their balance sheets to mitigate economic volatility. Japan’s progressive cryptocurrency regulations further facilitate Metaplanet’s ambitious accumulation plans by providing a supportive legal environment for such investments.
