IBM unveils AI GovTech Innovation Center in Lucknow

On February 22, 2026, IBM inaugurated its AI GovTech Innovation Center in Lucknow, India, aiming to enhance digital governance through advanced AI solutions. The event, attended by notable figures including Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and IBM’s CEO Arvind Krishna, emphasized the growing importance of AI in public sector performance amid rising citizen expectations and regulatory challenges. During the inauguration, IBM signed two Memorandums of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government to develop impactful AI use cases and introduce an AI literacy program for students, aligning with both parties’ long-term development goals. This center builds on IBM’s collaboration with local institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, which has previously focused on deploying AI solutions for sustainable urban development.
