2. GOAT

Just like the original abbreviation, this app may be solidified as the Greatest Sneaker App Of All Time. The amount of revenue GOAT has continuously raised has grown exponentially since the co-founders Eddy Lu and Daishin Sugano dropped their jobs to pursue their app in 2007. Last year, Foot Locker invested $100 Million in GOAT, according to Kurt Badenhausen in this Forbes article.

From a technical standpoint, all Goat did was cut out the middle man in buying sneakers… the physical store. Now people are trading, buying, and selling after hours and before hours… sorta like stocks, which means I can’t forget the staple turning sneakers into a tradable currency: StockX

3. StockX

StockX just reached it’s fourth birthday, and already makes over $2 Million in daily sales and over $700 Million each year. The innovative niche that sets StockX apart is that it treats sneakers just like stocks, shows you how much they’re worth, the daily price difference between different sneakers, and the new trends. It’s doing so well that Eminem decided to invest(he also has a retro Jordan 4 worth $1,000,000, yes that’s a milli) on StockX. As humans and hypebeasts, we’ve shifted how we look at the financial system, and we’ve found a way to let the culture of kicks make money. So this makes me wonder, what’s next? Let’s look at my predictions:

So Nike announced earlier this year, that they are currently in the process of trademarking their own crypto currency. Unfortunately a name hasn’t been released yet, but they do intend to utilize this for people to purchase sneakers. Imagine if Nike were to monopolize crypto and creative this massive outlet for sneaker heads to purchase sneakers strictly using crypto. This would be an entirely new dorm for E-commerce, especially with overseas markets. Sounds like I’ll be buying NikeCoins soon!

A popular service for sneaker buying are bots, which basically were created to be completely automated, slide their way into a sneaker seller’s site, and essentially purchase the shoes without anyone having to be up early, wait in a long line(both virtual and physical), or login.. This service can be quite expensive, and as sneaker-commerce continues to grow, so will the need and market for these robots. Imagine if the terminator pulled up to Sean Connor’s house with some Bred 11’s saying “Come with me if you want to cop”.
