Gambling most popular on Tron blockchain – Robert Hoogendoorn
The most gambling on the blockchain happens on the Tron network, as people on average put 7.3 million dollars per day on the virtual table. The EOS blockchain is right behind, while Ethereum comes in third. Because creating user-friendly games on the blockchain is getting easier, the number of gambling dApps and consumer interest in these decentralized apps will increase in the coming years.
Online gambling will double
Online gambling is incredibly popular, and there’s an insane amount of money to be made in this field. The total gambling gross revenue worldwide was projected to reach 495 billion dollars in 2019, approximately ten percent of that comes from online gambling. Research agency Statista expects the online market to double to 94 billion dollars in 2024.
No doubt that blockchain technology will have a big influence on this growth. Thanks to smart contracts gambling games are easier to build and maintain. Every major blockchain that allows smart contracts has multiple gambling games available. The chains worth mentioning are Ethereum, EOS and Tron.
Gambling on these three blockchains is good for an average of 11.8 million dollar per day in volume, based on data from DappRadar. That’s obviously not the amount that the house makes, but the amount that people throw on the virtual table. This would be 354 million dollar per month, and 4.3 billion dollars per year.
The Tron blockchain houses the biggest amount of gambling, mainly thanks to WINk. With 3.6 million dollars of volume WINk is the most valuable and the most popular dApp on the Tron blockchain.
On a daily basis people spend 7.3 million dollars on gambling games on the Tron blockchain. That’s good for 61.8% of all blockchain gambling. The second spot goes to another Asian product, EOS. People on the EOS blockchain gamble with 3.4 million dollars per day, which is 28.8%. The third spot is for Ethereum, which takes care of 1.1 million dollar per day (9.4%).
No big numbers yet
Despite the millions of dollars per day, we aren’t talking about millions of people. On the Ethereum blockchain there are only 4100 people per day actively gambling. On EOS this number is even lower, as there’s an average of 3800 gamblers per day. While Tron doesn’t attract a lot more people, with only 4200 per day.
Even though the numbers don’t really impress, they are actually quite good for decentralized apps. The most popular games on Tron attract less than a thousand people per day. On the EOS blockchain only EOS Dynasty, Prospectors and EOS Knight have more than one thousand players per day, while My Crypto Heroes is the only game on the Ethereum network with comparable numbers. Gambling is still the most popular genre for decentralized apps on the blockchain, ahead of games, exchanges, or any other app.
Blockchain slowly moving into mainstream
Interacting with blockchain technology is one of the biggest hurdles. Many browsers require a third party plugin. In addition there’s the hassle with private keys and public keys. However, things are becoming easier. Browsers like Brave and Opera now have integrated crypto wallets. Samsung even has a hardware crypto wallet build into its latest Galaxy S10 smartphone. Tron is now also supported by Samsung, making it easier than ever before for people to start gambling on their smartphone using their Tron wallet.
