FantasyGold Releases Major v2 Upgrade – FantasyGold

On July 5th the FantasyGold Coin ($FGC) dev team published its biggest upgrade to date with major release version 2.0.0. The center piece of FantasyGold v2 is new support for Ethereum Virtual Machine based smart contracts using an Account Abstraction Layer which allows the EVM to communicate with FantasyGold’s Bitcoin based blockchain.

The main goal and purpose of the FantasyGold project has always been to serve as a decentralized platform for the fantasy sports and esports industries. The team wanted to introduce a safer and more transparent in-game currency. Earlier versions did this very well and proved its use case with https://DraftDaily.com, the project’s daily fantasy sports site, now undergoing a major upgrade of its own ahead of the upcoming NFL season. This latest release can do much more and provides a real platform for developers.

What this mean exactly is that the FantasyGold blockchain is now compatible with most existing Solidity based smart contracts, developers can deploy everything from simple tokens to complex ICOs and DApps using the same ERC20 and ERC721 standards as Ethereum.

Using the FantasyGold blockchain over Ethereum has its own benefits such as much cheaper Gas by comparison, a core development team and community focused on fantasy sports and the esports industries not congested with unrelated DApps.

FantasyGold v2 coin specs include an 8 Mb block size, 2 min block time and 5 FGC block reward using Proof of Stake consensus. The total max supply is 210,000,000 FGC and uses the Bitcoin UTXO transaction model and allows for SPV protocol. All Gas and transaction fees are rewarded to staking addresses providing an additional incentive to secure the network though Proof of Stake.

Now that the update is done we still have some minor bugs and issues to work out but the future development track is very promising and includes many new dev tools, libraries and applications some of which are already available on https://github.com/FantasyGold

Standard Windows and Linux wallets are already available as well as the Raspberry Pi wallet for staking boxes. A custom Raspberry Pi image should be available soon.

Currently in development we have the following upcoming releases:

  1. Android Mobile Wallet
  2. 2. FGC Browser Extension (similar to MetaMask)

3. FGC Electrum Wallet

4. Solar, a Smart Contract deployment tool

The team also looks forward to building DApps using both FGC20 and FGC721 tokens.
