Department of War redefines priorities, focuses on applied AI

Bitcoin Rises After Supreme Court Rules Against Trump Tariffs

Emil Michael, reshaping the Department of War’s approach, announced that in just 90 days, 1.2 million of the 3 million people in the department have engaged with AI, a significant increase from the prior 80,000 users. Since taking office in May, he streamlined the department’s priorities from 14 to six, with applied AI as the top focus area, recognizing the urgent need to catch up with rapid advancements in AI globally. The department aims to enhance human decision-making with AI, a strategic contrast to adversaries who seek to automate decision processes entirely. To facilitate this shift, the chief digital and AI office was moved under Michael’s leadership, allowing for swifter implementation of AI tools.
