BNB Chain boosts transaction speed and cuts fees with 2025 hardforks

4 Reasons Why Ethereum Is Not a Competitor to Bitcoin

In 2025, BNB Chain underwent significant network improvements by executing four hardforks named Pascal, Lorentz, Maxwell, and Fermi, leading to considerably enhanced performance metrics. These hardforks reduced block times from 3 seconds to 0.45 seconds and lowered gas fees from 1 gwei to 0.05 gwei, while also doubling network bandwidth to 133M gas per second. These upgrades not only boost the chain’s overall efficiency through faster confirmations and near-instant finality but also make BNB Chain a more competitive layer-1 solution. Consequently, they have spurred increased interest from developers seeking to build high-throughput, quick-finality applications on the blockchain.
