Women in Crypto – Point Pay

Women in Crypto – Point Pay

Blockchain industry has been growing tremendously since the introduction of Bitcoin in 2009. In the last 10 years, almost any industry has become engaged with blockchain industry from security, photography, food, pet industry to addressing global climate change.

Though the number of participants keeps on growing, there is a big gap between the contribution of men and women in the industry. The total number of women involved in this rapidly growing industry is the small percentage of all players. We can’t say for sure what is the reason of this gender inequality, but during the last period we have light of hope as statistics show more women are coming day by day to contribute to the industry.

Here is the statistics of the percentage of women participating in Bitcoin community:

2016–1,76%

2017–3%

2018–5,27%

2019–9,91%

As we can see the numbers keep on increasing.

Also regardless of men’s domination in the industry, there are still there are still women who are contributing immensely to the growth of the sector.

Among the successful women crypto entrepreneurs we can mention the following names:

Tavonia Evans, Founder of $Guap — a decentralized data platform that collects and analyzes transaction information which it draws from the blockchain, to provide users in the Black Community with the right details on business potential and risks.

Masha Drokova, Founder of Day One Ventures. This is a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage tech companies and organizes their communications.

Connie Gallippi, Founder/Executive Director BitGive. The BitGive project is designed to social impact and philanthropy, using the power of bitcoin and blockchain technology.

There are also many women that are acting as co-founders of different crypto organizations, crypto journalists, investors, etc.

Women still need to increase their participation in the industry. The current 9.91% participation is too negligible. Nonetheless, there is hope that the percentage can improve significantly in the near future since the few ones that are around are already exercising their influence in the crypto ecosystem
