The research department of the Deutsche Bank AG has reported that the next decade will probably belong to the cryptocurrencies while the fiat money system is on the edge. The report also goes into details about the impediments, which have to be overcome for a wide-area adaption.
Furthermore, it published a report about the potential growth of cryptocurrencies during the next ten years. According to the report, the Fiat-money-system in its current state can’t be held up in the long term. It’s fragile and is probably facing a massive breakdown — or even a possible end.
The demand for alternative currencies may jump up. But not every currency has the same chances.
The report predicts, that in case of another break of the Fiat-system it may come to a backlash of the Fiat-money and the demand for alternative currencies like gold or cryptocurrencies may increase. The Deutsche Bank describes cryptocurrencies in this decade more as “additions” than substitution. But up to 2030 the part of cryptocurrency may become the latter.
Will cryptocurrencies become mainstream during the next decade?
According to the report, cryptocurrencies have to overcome three main obstacles to advance their adaption. They have to be legitimated in the eyes of governments and authorities. This means to stabilize the price and to provide benefits for merchants as well as for customers. Also a global range in the payment-market has to be reached. Therefore, alliances with service- and card-providers and retailers have to be established.
If these challenges can be mastered, according to the report, the future of cash money is in danger. But new challenges will appear as well. In the first place the complete digital reproduction of the financial system and all the problems and risks coming with it.
