What is Bicoin (Part 1): What is Money? – John Vallis

So recently I started doing these rants or monologues where I just speak off the top of my mind on subjects that I find interesting or important.

Bitcoin has been an incredibly fascinating subject to me for many years, since Bitcoin was less than $1!! (Sadly I was not an early investor)

I don’t claim to have any special knowledge of Bitcoin, but as part of my ongoing learning process, I think it’s beneficial to periodically try to articulate my understanding. Doing so in a public forum seems to cause me to be more disciplined with my thoughts and my words, and it’s for that reason that I do it. If it provides any benefit to anyone who listens or watches, great!

So the way I think I’ll do it with these videos is to tackle Bitcoin piece by piece. In this video, I discuss the context that I have found useful, looking at the origins and history of money, for being able to understand what Bitcoin represents and why its important.
