US government transfers $23,000 from Villanueva forfeiture wallet

Fed’s Kashkari lashes crypto and stablecoins, praises AI

The U.S. government has transferred approximately $23,000 worth of Bitcoin from a wallet identified as linked to funds seized from Miguel Villanueva, with three transactions recorded on the Arkham Intelligence platform. This movement included nearly 0.3346 BTC, fully depleting the Villanueva-labeled wallet. The transfers align with the policy outlined by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, which indicates that forfeited digital assets are being retained under President Trump’s strategic bitcoin reserve initiative rather than being liquidated. This strategic approach reflects the government’s significant holdings, which currently amount to roughly 328,000 bitcoins, valued at over $22 billion.
