The Decred Drive (Feb 6) – The Decred Drive
2. Decred’s own Checkmate continues to contend that Ethereum will not develop a monetary premium. Interesting and valid points from Checkmate. Check out the rebuttals from Vitalik Buterin and David Hoffman.
3. On the Politeia front, couple solid proposals to discuss:

Imho, both of these proposals are top-notch and both of these Decred community members have a solid reputation to deliver. It’s great see members of the community come up with colorful ways to add value. And it’s also great to see the community vote to support these efforts, most of the time ;). To date, of 63 total proposals, 32 APPROVED 18 REJECTED 13 ABANDONED.
4. The Street, co-founded by Jim Cramer, released an article about how Decred is gaining traction in Africa. The unique governance aspects of the Decred asset seem to be compelling within African and South American countries — many of Decred’s strongest contributors come from these regions.
5. Wonderful new Decred in Depth episode this week with Ammar Naseer. I’ve listened to this episode a couple times now. Ammar describes how a lot of the crypto ethos has spawned from enthusiasts in Canada — something I haven’t given too much thought to, but is worth thinking about. Highly recommend listening to this episode, and all the Decred in Depth episodes.
6. In just 2 days, on February 8th, we will celebrate Decred’s birthday. Meetups will be organized all over the world. So if your looking to learn more about Decred and find ways to contribute to the community, please find (or organize) a Decred meetup near you. Kudos to our amazing community:
7. DCRComic continues to do a wonderful job building educational resources for the Decred community. You can tell from the high quality of their content that this team loves what they are doing. I love it too. So cool that they’ll be putting together DCR Comic booklets in many languages for #DecredGlobalMeetups. Looks like the booklets will be presented first at the Decred meetup in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Very cool.
8. Nice tweet from Ammar Naseer here. Speaks to the fact that Decred’s security model (PoS + PoW) has superior security characteristics to Bitcoin (BTC)’s pure PoW model. Early days for Decred, but the tech doesn’t lie…
9. Another great post from Dusty Decred on CT (Dustin LeFebvre), speaking to Decred’s commitment to iterate towards a truly decentralized DAO. The day will come when contractor payments, Politeia voting, consensus-change voting, and many other aspects of the Decred ecosystem will be fully decentalized, aka without reliance on central planning/coordinating.
10. Lastly, if you’re in Lagos on February 8th, be sure to attend a top-notch Decred meetup alongside industry leaders like Houbi Nigeria. Looks like smart crypto players in Africa are paying attention to DCR — as they should.
Decred is strong.
The community is vibrant.
The community is growing.
Keep contributing.
Keep working.
Keep grinding.
Imho, this is how great things begin.
Onward!
