The Avril Group looks to the IBM Blockchain Network Better Sourcing
IBM Food Trust blockchain platform has embarked on one more French manufacturer seeking to improve product provenance and supply chain transparency. Let’s check to The Avril Group looks to the IBM Blockchain Network Better Sourcing.
According to a Feb. 4 press release, the Avril Group, a vegetable oil, eggs and protein manufacturer, and the owner of the Matines and Lesieur brands have started using IBM Food Trust network to ensure traceability of their products.
Enhancing corporate social responsibility and customer experience
The Avril Group expects to improve its corporate social responsibility by applying blockchain, especially when it comes to sectors such as quality livestock and animal welfare considerations.
Matines aims to advance customer experience by providing greater transparency through a QR code printed inside the egg box, which directs customers to an application containing a wide range of data relating to the eggs they consume — from how the hens are fed up to the date of dispatch to the distributor’s warehouses.
Food Producing Companies are Actively Embracing Blockchains
In recent months food manufacturers have been actively pursuing the adoption of blockchain. Retail giants Carrefour and Nestlé started tracking the milk-based formula supply chain for infants last November using IBM’s Food Trust blockchain platform. The companies thus aim to increase consumer confidence in the quality of their products.
That same month, blockchain application platform VeChain, based in Singapore, unveiled a new blockchain tracking system for the food and beverage business. The firm had been working on the project with the food certification group DNV GL and the supply chain specialist ASI Group, known as Foodgates.
