SBI Holdings to issue $65 million XRP-paying blockchain bonds

Extreme fear returns as crypto majors slide despite Bitcoin holding above $67K

SBI Holdings, a prominent Japanese securities firm recognized for its bullish stance on XRP, plans to issue approximately $65 million in blockchain bonds that will reward owners with XRP, marking a significant move in Japan’s burgeoning tokenized securities market. The bonds will offer a fixed interest rate between 1.85% and 2.45% over a term ending in early 2029, with holders receiving $1.29 in XRP for each $645 of bonds. This initiative aligns with a wider trend where Japanese financial institutions, including giants like Mitsubishi UFJ and Nomura, are entering tokenization projects to tap into this rapidly developing sector, reflecting a global momentum in financial tokenization with major firms such as BlackRock and Franklin Templeton also exploring similar avenues.
