Ripple Announces New Plan to Drive XRP Adoption. What’s it all about?

Ripple’s fundraising and development arm, Xpring, is revealing new details on its efforts to drive adoption of the digital asset XRP.

What is Xpring? Xpring (pronounced “spring”) is a Ripple initiative that builds infrastructure and helps innovative blockchain projects grow through investments and partnerships. (More information about Xpring)

Xpring “really came on board just to look at how best to build an ecosystem of companies that are using XRP, that are using technologies like Interledger Protocol.”

The last 12 months have included numerous partnerships and investments, the Xpring senior vice president, Ethan Beard said. “We’ve partnered with or invested in over 20 companies that are using XRP and [are] aligned with the vision that we have, and have committed over $500 million to that ecosystem,” Beard said.

Explaining the reasoning behind Xpring’s move toward a blockchain development platform, Beard noted, “During those conversations, and as we started working closely with our partners, it became clear that they were looking for more than just investments.” Additionally, “to support the growth and the development of the XRP ecosystem, we really needed to make it easier to build with these technologies and allow our customers and our partners to focus on solving real world customer problems,” Beard said.

Warren Paul Anderson, Xpring’s Product Manager says they are rolling out a new development relations initiative to engage engineers who are building on the XRP Ledger across the entire world. It’s designed to give people a central hub to share content, discover events and gain support.

“Today, we’re focused on producing the content that makes it easier for developers to access blockchain technology and digital assets through: technical documentation, sample code, tutorials, video demos; and also written posts on our blog and (new!) forum.”

Ripple is working to curate content to facilitate developer access to blockchain technology and digital assets. Xpring also plans to make its presence felt around the world through meetups, conferences and hackathons.

In December, Ripple’s investment arm launched a software development kit (SDK) to help developers integrate XRP-based payments into their products. Xpring has also allocated more than $500 million worth of XRP to fund businesses building on crypto and blockchain technology.
