Receive your FRGVN crypto token the easier way. – forgivenet
We are releasing our amazing web application on 12 January 2020…
Until then, you can interact with the forgivenet application via Remix — instructions here, warning: this is tricky — or by using My Ether Wallet and MetaMask — which we explain now.
In Chrome, head over to My Ether Wallet and click Access My Wallet.
We’re going to use MetaMask to interact with the Request Forgiveness contract, so make sure you have installed MetaMask and have an account with some ETH in it. Then click the Browser Extension option.
Accept terms and click Access My Wallet.
Make sure you’re on the main ethereum network and you have some ETH in your account. I don’t have any ETH in this account so I’m heading over to Coinbase where I will send some ETH over to this Account address.
Click the Contract option.
We have to enter the live contract address from the Ethereum network.
That’s this one: 0x01a90C5A0753b554EEe3B5889aFCE40d85c1e81D. Enter the address in the Contract Address field.
Click the link to access the details. To get the ABI, click Contract and scroll down.
Below the code you will see the ABI details and a handy copy button which will copy the ABI to clipboard.
Back in MEW, with both the address and ABI added, click Continue.
Click the Select an item drop down menu and you will see a scrolling list of methods from the contract.
Select the requestForgiveness method.
To request forgiveness, you have to provide a written request for forgiveness and some ETH.
Every transaction on the blockchain costs ETH. We have set a minimum value per transaction to minimise bad behaviour.
Currently, this is 0.018 ETH but you can always find the current minimum by clicking the getDisincentive method which returns the minimum value in wei.
You have to enter the value you want to donate to the forgiveness application in Ether. Check the conversion tables here.
When you write your request for forgiveness, give enough detail that the person or persons from whom you are requesting forgiveness will know who they are.
Eventually we will build an app for accepting your requests.
Make sure your request for forgiveness is between 500 and 2000 characters long. Here’s a site that can help you with that.
Back in My Ether Wallet, enter the text and the donation value. There is no upper limit on donation.
When you’re ready, click Write.
MetaMask will ask you to Confirm the transaction.
Now you can access your request on the Ethereum blockchain. It will be there FOREVER.
Click the MetaMask fox in the Chrome toolbar. You will see a list of transactions. Click the latest one.
You will see all the details of the transaction. Click the arrow to go to etherscan.
Everything has been recorded, forever.
You now own 1 FRGVN token. You can check that at the Etherscan contract page for the FRGVN token.

Click Contract.
Click Read Contract.
Scroll down and find the balanceOf method and insert your account address and click Query. This person made three requests for forgiveness. I bet they feel better for it.
