PNC enables direct Bitcoin trading via Coinbase Prime

PNC has become the first major US bank to offer direct Bitcoin trading to its private clients, leveraging the services of Coinbase Prime both for transaction routing and asset custody. This move highlights the increasing trend of US banks adopting cryptocurrency services to cater to client demand for digital assets. By routing trades through Coinbase Prime, which already holds 993,000 Bitcoin and oversees 80% of US ETF assets, PNC joins a growing segment of traditional financial institutions integrating with crypto platforms. Such partnerships underline a broader trend of custody concentration, as more banks choose established crypto custodians to manage their digital asset offerings.
