OriginTrail Monthly Report: January 2020 – OriginTrail
Things moved quickly this January. Our developers published three updates to the Freedom-Gemini node and solutions based on the OriginTrail protocol were presented at Oracle OpenWorld Middle East 2020 event in Dubai. We organized our first community AMA and successfully presented our new LDM project at the BlockIS Innovators Assembly in Istanbul.
Since the Freedom-Gemini release, the core development team has been continuously improving the OriginTrail node client. Trace Labs has already released three updates in January, the latest being v4.0.3.
These releases brought further improvements to the litigation procedures and the Kademlia node. Updates resolved password issues, enabled easier tracking of offer prices, and improved security. Whenever the update is released, users can choose to trigger it by restarting the nodes or to simply wait for the auto-updater (this requires the autoUpdate option to be turned on).
The Freedom-Gemini release from December brought a powerful new data layer and many other benefits. It introduced litigation and reputation mechanisms, removed the need to register nodes, offered flexibility for more use cases with support for larger data sets, and gave users more control over pricing for jobs. We are happy that the Freedom-Gemini release was well accepted and that the transition to the next stage of OriginTrail was smooth.
We are regularly in close contact with our community. At the beginning of January, we organized our first community AMA session. It was hosted by the valued OriginTrail community member Guinnessstache. All three founders answered a number of questions and provided more insights after the successful release of Freedom-Gemini.
In January, Žiga Drev and Branimir Rakić, co-founders of OriginTrail and Trace Labs, attended the Oracle OpenWorld Middle East 2020 IT conference in Dubai. At this two-day technology-driven conference, experts, Oracle’s customers, and peers from across the Middle East and Africa came together to share their experiences.
At Oracle OpenWorld, Trace Labs presented joint solutions with AppsPro, a new partner and a leading Oracle solution provider in the region. Together, they are bringing the power of the OriginTrail protocol to Oracle users in the Middle East.
The end of the month brought the start of another project powered by OriginTrail. Trace Labs is part of the Blockchain Innovation Spaces program, BlockIS for short. Supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, it is developing a Laboratory Data Marketplace (LDM) for trusted food provenance based on isotopic reference tests of food products.
After a great presentation by Trace Labs General Manager Jurij Skornik at the Innovators Assembly event in Istanbul, the project successfully made it from the Innovative Stage into Experiment Stage and will continue with the implementation. Read more.
