It is now possible to use Bitcoin to pay on Amazon!
If you have Bitcoins, you can now use them to buy from Amazon. This is made possible by the start-up Moon. Moon’s teams are relying on the latest Bitcoin network update called “Lightning” to offer this service.
How does it work ? Moon’s press release announces that the Bitcoin wallets that support the new Bitcoin Lightning network will be able to connect directly to the Amazon e-commerce site via the Moon extension to install on your Internet browser. This is a big step towards the global use of Bitcoin.
This announcement came a few months after the start of tests conducted by Moon that enabled to connect Coinbase portfolios of 250 testers in order to make purchases on Amazon directly using their Bitcoin wallet.
Specifically, Moon’s CEO, Ken Kruger, explains that when paying, a QR code will be generated by extending your previously installed internet browser.
This QR code will allow you to make the payment of your purchase instantly via your Bitcoin Lightning wallet!
Specifically, Amazon does not receive payment in Bitcoin, a conversion into a traditional currency in dollars or euros is made when you opt for a Bitcoin payment. Thus, suppliers who sell on the e-commerce site will receive the equivalent of Bitcoin payment in FIAT currency. The conversion process is operated by an international financial institution that Moon’s CEO has chosen not to reveal for the moment.
