Instead of ‘Satoshi Keys’ Craig Wright Submitted a List of 16,404 Addresses
Craig Wright and his former business partner Dave Kleiman’s family have a new twist. It turns out that Wright gave them only a list of Bitcoin addresses, however, the assets on them, apparently, are still inaccessible.
On Tuesday, it became known that a third party provided Wright with the necessary information and part of the key to unlock the encrypted file. Wright also provided a list of possessions in Bitcoin, as requested by the judge.
In a new document issued on January 14, the Kleiman’s lawyer sconfirm that Wright did provide a list of 16,404 Bitcoin addresses, which supposedly belong to him. However, the plaintiff’s statement contains one important clarification:
“On January 14, 2019 Craig filed a notice with the Court claiming he’s complied with Judge Reinhart’s order and provided Plaintiffs with the list of his bitcoin public addresses. ECF No. [376]. The document produced by Craig is simply a list of 16,404 addresses. Craig, however, did not provide any information on the bounded courier, the company he/she worked for, when he/she came, or the message delivered.”
Wright claims that it was he, under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, who invented Bitcoin and, therefore, should have access to coins mined in the early years of the cryptocurrency. Kleiman’s lawyers are confident that family can claim half of these Bitcoins and have been suing Wright for the past year. Wright, in turn, claims that at present he cannot transfer these assets, but does not want to refuse to be assigned the title of creator of Bitcoin, and therefore finds all kinds of excuses and even, allegedly, forged documents directly related to the case. According to the latest version, the courier hired by Dave Kleiman should deliver the keys to him in January 2020.
Now the plaintiffs are asking to postpone further legal proceedings for 90 days in order to re-examine the documents and try to find additional information about the courier in them. They also prepared a seven-point list for Wright regarding questions that he had not given detailed answers to before.
