How to Win at Collecting Cryptocurrency Art. – The NFTelegraph
Dear Crypto Friends,
Can you tell me what this is?
It’s a pepecash digital trading card from Bitcoin’s blockchain.
3 years it was sold and merely given away to other traders.
It retained and gained value as the meme generated controversy and also notoriety for the Hong Kong protests as of late.
3 months ago, one of the ten editions of this blockchain card was sold by its creator Robness Cyberpop for $10,000 to a Counterparty token protocol user.
A mysterious developer/collector now owns it. Will he flip it for more money? Will he/she display it in a virtual museum? Will he hold it as a blockchain historic security for galleries in the future? Only time will tell.
No one knows the future, however there is one thing we can all agree upon. Digital collectibles, also known as Non-Fungible Tokens(NFT) are here and they are an extremely exciting and emerging market; rife with potential to increase your investment earnings to the nth degree!
The Ethereum blockchain and its community have provided a treasture trove of tools and apps to help you in this endeavor. Our goals today are to;
. Goal: Learn how to collect & trade crypto art
. Skill: intermediate
. Effort: 1–3 hours
. ROI: Average resale on crypto art is 915%
Bitcoin technology has changed the world forever, new tools have come into existence that allow digital art to finally be rare. The art you purchase digitally can be proven that it is yours and yours alone. Copies of that digital art will be rendered fakes because it will not have blockchain identifiers attached to it, thus you can prove you own it. Perceptually speaking this has blown the door open to digital art investing and it is here. I knew you were going to get excited!
One such gallery is on the complete forefront of this digital age and KnownOrigin.io is leading the charge. One of the first true digital art galleries in the space they have assembled a treasure trove of future artists that are literally redefining a new renaissance of art. Perhaps a digital renaissance age, will you be taking part? The space is heating up and hundreds of thousands of dollars have already been spent on a small amount of artists poised to be household names. A new internet-native fine art market has arrived and it is completely disrupting everything everybody thought was possible.
As we start a new decade, and with the Bitcoin market back out of bear territory, investments will be explored and the new one about to heat up is the blockchain art market. It took years to develop but now the infrastructure is here and ready to show the world some amazing things, and art!
To begin your digital art collecting adventure, begin by making an account on KnownOrigin.io. You will need a wallet service and an address to transact so I recommend using web3 wallets Metamask or Portis(Don’t forget to write down your private keys, extremely important!) After that you can deposit some Ethereum into your wallet and start shopping for some future masterpieces! There are a vast number of artists in the space staking their claim for future success but which ones are going to be it? That’s why I’m here.
Great question! If you are familiar with Bitcoin and what tokenization advancement can do then literally the sky is the limit. Tokenized artworks can act the same exact way as a bitcoin token can. Possibly in the future, your artwork could be a secret backstage pass to a concert or an entrance ticket to an event. It could even open your future car as ridiculous as that sounds. Rarified digital artwork has immense capabilities that nobody thought possible and it’s here, you are just in time for getting on the ground floor.
I know you folks are eager to find out the secrets I have found in this emerging, exciting and game changing world that might redefine the fine art world for centuries to come. Never in a time has the world seen an advancement such as this and digital art is about to take the world by storm. Curious to find out which artists are worth taking a look at instead of sifting through hundreds of others you have no clue about nor have a story to back it up? Well sip some nice brandy and I will share some of my incredible insights to this wonderful world of creation and invention!
Robness Cyberpop has participated and witnessed the first experiments in cross item blockchain tokenization in games via Sarutobi and Spells of Genesis on the original Bitcoin blockchain since 2016. He was seminal as being the first set of artists that created the cards that spurred off the infamous pepecash trading card phenomenon, which showed a proof of concept, trading artwork tokens to people across the world and on many continents. His work is vast in style and approach. Multifaceted and prolific, he goes from future neon fine art motion(to your left), abstract, collage, glitch fine art to GAN(artificial intelligence) generatives, the list goes on. Added value to his career; besides his crucial participation in blockchain history, he became one of two artists who were let go of an emerging crypto art gallery due to differences and copyright violations pertaining to collage work. This led him to move on which generated some controversy as to whether art should be constricted to old legal parameters in a decentralized world. Currently his work is still on SuperRare, just waiting to be collected. How much is it worth currently? Only the future can tell us but just refer to art history to know that it always prefers the rule breakers and redefiners. He continues to make rule bending art, conceptually and visually on KnownOrigin gallery, one of the first premiere crypto art galleries in the space.
Valuation Metrics: Robness has history in the crypto art world since day one and participated in some very important historic events. He was one of two artists removed from SuperRare digital art gallery and gained controversy as a result. He continues to work prolifically and has demonstrated his ability to change and create new, innovative artistic styles at will.
The seminal digital psychedelic representative in the crypto space, Max Osiris commands a timeless matrix. Borrowing elements from the classic era to the hyper present, his artworks have shown great promise in a new digital renaissance. He was the first artist to be removed from SuperRare for violating terms yet his work is still traded and sold to the highest bidder presently. You never know what you’re gonna get on a new Max Osiris release but one thing is for sure, it is out of this world and ripe for investment. Upon inspecting his work I find elements of urban, modern psychedelic and futurist expressions that at first come at you like a speed train but after the dust is settled you realize you just found a brand new masterpiece to collect.
Valuation Metrics: Max has contributed to SuperRare’s early days and is its top seller to this very day. Many top collectors have collected his pieces and traded them secondary at higher prices. Also has a masterful approach in translating psychedelia into the urban environment of today, which I might add is no easy task.
Another artist that defined the beginnings of the Ethereum art gallery scene emergence, Miss Al Simpson continues to wield a masterful hand at some of the best collage pop this century has ever seen. With an obvious love of Hollywood and overall American pop aesthetic, she takes this iconic imagery and flips it on its head, merging pop imagery with the aesthetic of the cryptocurrency world, leaving the burning ashes of an old corrupted money era behind. The textures she wields can almost be felt as you gaze upon her work. The tears and smears of a century’s past are shown and we know instinctively that a future unknown is presenting itself, we just don’t know what’s in store for us all.
Valuation Metrics: Miss Al Simpson was seminal as being the first family of artists in both KnownOrigin and SuperRare galleries. She commands the domain of pop art for the future and has a distinctive style all her own in this domain whilst presenting a layered futurist element that does not become too nostalgic and keeps us still grounded in the present moment.
Part of the origin Ethereum art community family, Norman Harman has dominated the field of the glitch. With a scholarly fine art painting background (RSA Latimer prize winner) he is one of the few artists who truly understands the emergence of technological fine art in the 21st century. Individuals who can harness the talents of fine art painting whilst able to understand and communicate in the fields of internet art, webpunk, glitch and generative arts; Norman is a true painter to keep an eye on. Images of dystopia are a constant theme in his work as are political themes but his true power lies in the color orchestration in the work. A grand element is always present and a seminal addition to your crypto art collection.
Valuation Metrics: Part of the original family of crypto artists that helped grow the art market from where it stands today via KnownOrigin and SuperRare galleries. Has a truly unique position in the future of crypto fine art where most have difficulty in translating abstract paint and technological art approaches yet keeping the work still organic and vibrant.
Out of the global tribe of characters in the first wave of crypto artists to emerge, here I present Mattia Cuttini. Master of the man made patterned arts, he constantly has been the cornerstone of this approach to style in the crypto art landscape. Based in Italy he is a favorite among his own peers and always creates stunning textures whilst providing transparency in his art process. He even tokenized his art process once in a time lapsed fine art gif and really encapsulates the role of a true artist who enjoys the journey of creation.
Valuation Metrics: His works are unique in the crypto field where pattern based works are rare in quantity. He works primarily in the analogue domain and hand makes his pieces yet translates those pieces to fit in a cryptocurrency art world. His approaches also represent a kinship with the computer and digital age, where patterns, binary and code all are intertwined and connected.
Extending the tale of art meets tech, Abysms has come into full form and began developing future landscapes that harken old postcard nostalgia and reinverting it to a new terrain future. Amongst these works he delves into various animation approaches and has an adventurous spirit that a lot of digital artists are afraid to venture into. The difficulty of merging the future with past vintage imagery is a fine tight rope and he walks it effortlessly. A shooting star in the crypto scene Abysms is displaying some extremely valuable promise.
Valuation Metrics: The last recent months has shown his style grow considerably faster and more refined with his newest editions of future landscapes. A great opportunity for collectors to get on the ground floor and acquire pieces with an ongoing series such as this and perhaps at a great price.
Jake Johns is the pulp side of the crypto art moon. Taking the comic art approach he has carved his own fun niche into the blockchain world and provided us a modern and lively look to what was once a static field. Jake threw one of the first physical crypto art shows in Shanghai which included other artists such as Robness and other luminaries. Currently he is emoting pieces that are reflecting the Coronavirus epidemic and relating his experiences through his art. Keep an eye on Jake and his colorful, vibrant and sometimes brutally emotional approaches to the scene!
Valuation Metrics: Jake is one of the only artists in the space expressing and reinventing a once archaic art style. Totally re-imagining it for a new century, Jake’s pulp comic style has now been modernized for the crypto art age. Some works even evoke a modern Lichtenstein but futurized!
WGMeets is another rising crypto artist to look out for. His recent pieces have captured a new abstract outlook on battle scenes and what subjects the entail. His piece here ‘Battle of Tivir’ is representative of his creative and out of the box conception. To compose a confrontational epic with elements that aren’t human is an interesting concept and I can’t wait to see more from this artist as well.
Valuation Metrics: WGMeets is a perfect opportunity to scout, invest and possibly patron for future works. If you wish to help the growth of an artist rather than already jump on a higher price demanding one, this might be the right catch!
LoveArtHate is the user and abuser of Generative Adversarial Network art form. He is known on multiple galleries to do artificial moving portraiture that issues out glitch cyberpunk’isms that are not for the soft eyed. Aggressive and relentless some of his works are known to push the boundaries into a punk aesthetic. Here we see a more somber expression where he takes his knowledge of artificial intelligence generatives into the abstract and also shows his progression and value as an upcoming name in the field. He also is on various platforms including Codex Protocol.
Valuation Metrics: Stefan Stignei(LoveArtHate) has been in the space when all crypto galleries began to emerge, so he has history attached to his name. Another valuable asset is his attachment to the artificial intelligence artwork field, which has become more so a sketchbook experiment to all who use it and could be a historic reference point in the future.
Stina Jones is an independent artist, best known for her quirky character designs which incorporate her trademark use of clean lines and bright, happy colours. She has managed to find an overlap between her two main disciplines — Graphic Design and Illustration — creating her own niche in the digital art world.
Her work explores themes around anthropomorphised states of being, both within ourselves and the world around us. The minimal narratives that accompany her work allow space for the viewer to form their own connections to those personifications.
Stina has made a natural progression to digital media from its more traditional roots, thanks to technology’s advances, although you will still find blends between the two in her work.
Valuation Metrics: Stina carves a collectibility niche in the crypto world that few possess, one that I believe might be highly lucrative in the long run. Artists that can run a successful collectability series and also have such a cute approach is something that can be huge in the crypto art world. Stina fits this future like a glove.
Hanz Benzin and his catalogue of work evokes a contemplative feeling and a majority of his work command a calm reflectiveness. Although not obvious from first glance his work has a succumbing element to the viewer and soon you become sucked in the world within the work. Hanz is also an artist that has adopted artificial intelligence tools to augment his emotional approaches and the results are always refined.
Valuation Metrics: Hanz’ work is a perfect opportunity for an investor to become a patron to an artist that has harnessed the second wave of artificial intelligent artists that have advanced the art form to where it is now. His pieces are at a point in time where the development of a.i. art and cryptocurrency art markets collide. Acquiring some pieces are always a good investment opportunity.
Tokenized art is on the cutting edge and it doesn’t take a dedicated and seasoned art collector to get started. Soon collecting digital art will be just as simple as surfing for songs on an Ipad. The future is bright for the digital art world and we finally have a game changing technology that will send this phenomenon sky high. Are you ready to start collecting? KnownOrigin.io is the premiere gallery hosting many of these artists and artists to come. While the traditional art world is sleeping on this I believe now is the perfect time for any investor to consider their portfolios and also consider if their altcoin hedges are worth the time and trouble of hodling. Art markets have shown to be resilient to any market slumps, even the worst of them. Perhaps a reconsideration of investing in some art is on the table. Start your collecting journey, become a great patron to the future art world and also more importantly…..have fun doing so!
