Configure your Trezor Model T device
Configuring your Trezor Model T device for the first time is a straightforward process taking around 10–15 minutes, however it is critical to configure and store your seed phrase/recovery phrase in a secure way to properly utilize your hardware wallet.
Make sure the security seal on the box is untampered with before setting up your device. If there is tampering then do not use the device.
Step 1: Connect the Trezor Model T device to your computer using the USB cable provided. It is recommended to plug this device directly in to your computer instead of using a USB hub.
On the Trezor Model T screen you should then see a Lock icon, and an instruction asking you to go to trezor.io/start.
Step 2: Open up trezor.io/start in your up to date Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox supported internet browser. Choose the Trezor Model T as your Device.
Step 3: Go to wallet.TREZOR.io if you’re not being directed to. Download and install the Trezor Bridge application specifically for your operating system as this is used for your Trezor device to communicate with your Trezor wallet.
There are other options for connecting your device with the Trezor Wallet including an end of life Chrome extension, and the Trezor Manager for Android, but the Trezor Bridge is the recommended optimized solution.
Step 4: The next step is to download and install the Trezor firmware onto the device. All Trezor devices come with no firmware installed so if your device came with anything pre-installed then do not use the device as it has been compromised.
Click “Yes, Install” to begin the installation of the firmware — you may be required to disconnect and reconnect the device multiple times. Wait until the installation completes and the wallet reboots.
Step 5: Once the firmware has finished installing refresh the Trezor Wallet website and you will be shown a welcome page. Select “Create a new wallet” from the Trezor web interface and confirm your selection by pressing the right button on the Trezor Model T device.
Step 6: The next step is critical: backing up your 24-word recovery seed.
On the web interface you will see the message “Your Trezor is not backed up“. Click on “Create a backup in 3 minutes“.
Your Trezor Model T device will then show your unique combination of 24 words: your recovery seed phrase. These words will be shown one at a time and you will need to press the right button on the Trezor Model T device to go to the next word. Please record the full 24-word seed phrase on Trezor’s Recovery phrase card and store this in a safe place that only you have access to. It is critical that this seed phrase is not stored online where it can be vulnerable, as anyone who has access to this phrase can gain control of your assets.
This 24-word seed phrase will be shown to you again by the Trezor Model T device. Make sure you have copied them down accurately as this will only be presented during this process and never shown again.
Once verified click “Finish” on your Trezor Model T. The Trezor web interface will show that “You have successfully backuped up your device“
Step 7: Your Trezor Model T device will need a name that will be used to distinguish your device. Type any name you want into the Trezor Web interface and confirm this name on the Trezor Model T device.
Maximum length for the device name is 16 characters
Step 8: The next step is to set up PIN code protection for your device to prevent against unauthorized physical access.
The screen of the Trezor Model T will ask you if you want to set a “new PIN” and press the right button to confirm.
The Trezor Model T will now display a 3×3 grid with the numbers 1–9 randomized within the grid. The Trezor web interface will display a linked 3×3 grid with no numbers, but dots in the boxes instead.
Use this blank grid on the Trezor web interface to input your PIN code selection, with these boxes corresponding to the numbers on the Trezor One 3×3 grid. This PIN code can be 4–9 digits long and we recommend a PIN code of at least 6+ characters.
You will be asked to re-enter this PIN code, with the 1–9 numbers re-randomized.
You have now successfully initialized your Trezor Model T and you are ready to make transactions!

Step 2: Click on “Show full address” and this is the crypto address to which you can receive your digital assets — please verify this address on the Trezor Model T device as well when making your transaction.
Only send the particular cryptocurrency that that wallet and address is configured for e.g. only send Bitcoin (BTC) to the Bitcoin (BTC) Trezor Wallet.
