Google has relocated its robotics software project Intrinsic from its “Other Bets” category to the main company to enhance collaboration with DeepMind’s AI and cloud teams, aligning its strategy with how it developed Android for smartphones. Intrinsic CEO Wendy Tan White emphasized the goal of making robotics accessible to various manufacturers, similar to how Android supports diverse hardware. The move follows Google’s 2025 introduction of the Gemini Robotics models and recent partnerships with companies like Apptronik and Boston Dynamics, which aim to advance humanoid robotics. Intrinsic’s flagship product, Flowstate, offers a web-based platform enabling users to build robotic applications efficiently, embodying Google’s intent to establish a dominant presence in the growing robotics market.
