How To Buy Ether on LocalEthereum With Mpesa
1. Create a LocalEthereum account.
Making an account is super-simple. You won’t need your ID — just a username, e-mail address and password.
Your username is what everybody is going to know you by, and once you sign up there’s no way to change it. Pick something memorable and cool.
Your password is essentially your private key, so treat it like one. It’s a little bit more complex than that, but we’re not going to explain that here (there’s some crazy maths that turns weak passwords into something stronger).
Your e-mail address is used for two-factor authentication. However, once your account is set up you can switch it over to OTP (e.g. Google Authenticator).
Some things to keep in mind:
- Your password is the encryption key to your wallet and messages — if you lose it, we can’t recover it.
- Don’t lose your password.
- If you forget your password, there’s no way to recover it.
2. Find an “offer” that you like.
Head back the homepage and you’ll see a list of offers. Offers are posted by traders from all over the world. You can use the filters to narrow down the list to only show offers that match your preferences.
You can search offers by:
- Payment method — There’s a variety of options here: Mpesa, Bank transfer, PayPal, Cash (face-to-face), International wire transfer, a miscellaneous Other category and some others. Choose the Mpesa option
- Location — search for offers in Kenya or specific city.
You can sort the offers by:
- Popularity — We’ll show you the most popular traders first. These people are generally quick, efficient and have a longer-standing reputation.
- Price — The most affordable offers will be at the top. However, these traders might not have the same speed, reputation or familiarity with the platform.
Purchasing the TokenPesa DAO Token (TDAT) on ForkDelta
Step 1:
First, let’s setup MetaMask in the Chrome browser. Open up a new Chrome browser window and navigate to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/metamask/nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn and then click on ‘ADD TO CHROME’ to install MetaMask plugin.
After installing, click on the MetaMask icon on the top right corner of the chrome browser. It will open up MediMask UI, scroll all the way down and click Accept to agree MetaMask’s terms of use.
Then enter a password, confirm the password, and then click Create for a new Ethereum account. This account allows to send and receive Ether, ERC20 tokens and also allows you to deploy Smart Contracts.
MetaMask will now show you a 12 word recovery key (Seed) as below.
These 12 words are the only way to restore MetaMask accounts if you forget the password. It should be stored in a safe location, such as in a notebook or USB key kept in a safe. Then click on ‘I’VE COPIED IT SOMEWHERE SAFE’. The main screen of MetaMask will open as below.
That’s it you’ve just created a new Ethereum address using MetaMask! You’re address can be found by clicking on the three little black dots and clicking “Copy Address to clipboard”.
Step 2:
Go to your localEthereum account and send Ether to the MetaMask address you’ve just copied. You should now have ETH in your MetaMask address.

Go to the Forkdelta website and find the TokenPesa DAO Token (TDAT) token at this URL:

Under the dropdown box in the top right hand corner, select the “metamask” option
Step 4:
Now that you have ETH in your ForkDelta address, you’ll now need to deposit it on the exchange. You will see your ETH on the left hand side of the account. You will then select the amount of ETH you want to deposit on the screen. After depositing, you will see your ETH on the right hand side of the screen.
Step 5
You are now ready to buy your TDAT tokens. Select the IDO buy order and make your trade.
Step 6
Congratulations! You have now bought your TDAT tokens. Select the Withdrawal tab and then withdraw your TDAT tokens from the exchange to your ETH address. TDAT tokens will now be on your ETH address.
From there, you can send your TDAT tokens to any wallet or exchange you would like.
