Ethereum plans incremental slot time reduction, enhances finality with roadmap updates

Bitcoin balances on Binance hit highest since November 2024: here’s what it means

Ethereum is set to undergo significant changes to its block confirmation processes, aiming for reduced slot and finality times while enhancing security. Researchers are considering a shift to faster slots and introducing a single-round-finality algorithm, such as Minimmit, to simplify and expedite confirmations. This overhaul aligns with Ethereum’s broader efforts to strengthen the network’s resilience against potential quantum threats, as indicated by plans to implement quantum-resistant signatures and STARK-friendly hashes. Enhanced p2p optimizations are also being developed to improve data transmission efficiency, supporting shorter slots without sacrificing security.
