Digital euro designed to incentivize national payment schemes, says ECB’s Cipollone

The European Central Bank (ECB) has announced that the digital euro is being designed to incentivize collaboration with national payment schemes, according to ECB’s Cipollone. This initiative comes as the ECB has moved into the preparation phase for the digital euro, following the completion of the investigation phase. The digital euro is intended to complement cash while ensuring strong privacy features and focusing on interoperability with existing national payment infrastructures.
