Custody Bot 2.0 – GoldMint

We presented a new version of the Custody bot at the Pawnshop Congress in Moscow on December 13th. It was a useful experience because we received feedback directly from the main market participants. We heard their wishes and concerns, and this gives us an idea of what can be changed in the next versions of the bot.

Several of our partners from other countries came to Congress, and we had productive negotiations with them. In total, pawnshop networks from 17 countries are already interested in the bot. And this despite the fact that we haven’t made an active marketing campaign to promote it yet. They are interested in us because we have a proven team of engineers, because we can make bots with individual functionality (buying/selling gold) and because we communicate with regulators closely. For example, we got into the regulatory sandbox of the Central Bank of Russia with the Custody bot.

People trust gold more and more, and very often they choose it as an investment instrument. We want to facilitate their interactions with gold, and because of Custody Bot people will no longer have to look for a pawnshop somewhere and hope that their gold will be fairly priced there. Custody bot, a device that can become as popular as ATMs, will make people’s access to buying/selling gold much easier. And the larger the network of bots — the bigger commission for miners, because in the future, the bot will be able to issue a GOLD token after receiving a new gold product as a loan.

We will tell you exactly what has changed in Custody bot 2.0 below.

The basic principle of work in the new version of the bot is not much different from the previous one:

  1. The user places his gold item inside the Custody bot.
  2. Bot evaluates the product in 4–5 minutes.
  3. The user agrees with the price offered by the bot and receives money, or refuses the price and receives his product back.

To comply with the rules of the regulator, we have added a camera to the front panel to record the working session. Users don’t need to enter the card data manually anymore because we added a card reader on the front panel. And a module for receipts issuing was added too.

The main changes are related to the materials for manufacturing the new version of the bot. Custody bot 2.0 has become more secure and shockproof due to the fact that the entire external casing is now made of steel. Also, all jewelry received by the bot is now stored in the strongbox inside it.

In the previous version, we needed to add water to the bot once every few weeks for hydrostatic weighing. In the new version, we solved this problem, and now the water is poured automatically.

The dimensions of the bot did not change much, but the weight became larger due to more durable materials: weight about 250 kg, height 175 cm, length 75 cm, width 90 cm.

If the first version of the bot was placed in the pawnshop, then the second version we plan to install in one of the shopping malls in Moscow in a few months.
