Cryptocurrency exchanges – Andrey Semenov
Recent development in blockchain technology and new applications have given me an idea about making it instead of niche cyber-pank hobby to mainstream technology. Emergence of DEFi, DAPs and Metamask style wallets (especially mobile) supposed to launch the adoption of technology and wide usage of it. No need to be a geek, install native buggy clients or download the whole history of transactions in BTC/ETH-you can now just install the mobile app and the whole Web3 world will be available to you through your mobile.
It order to pursue the existing opportunities and get exposure to the crypto world, I’ve decided to convert a small amount of fiat currencies to crypto and form a small portfolio of start-ups from blockchain universe. It appeared to be not that easy in the current financial system… What is the best crypto-exchange? Can I deposit USD? What are the fees for trading and deposit/withdraw? I’ve tried 3 platforms:
- Coinbase. Very popular. Easy to use interface, but difficult account approval process-you have to be 1st world country resident, have a conventional bank account to deposit fiat. A few promotions declared: reference program and earn by learning. Non of them was materialised: reference program if you buy>100$ was not working as no BTC has been rewarded, earn by learning-still in the kew for more then 3 months… I’ve tried to deposit from bank in UAE-money has been returned -10 EUR transaction fee, not possible to deposit from Transferwise. Also there 2 interfaces: 1) ordinary (for beginners) where they are charging huge commissions for everything (3% trading, withdraw, etc…) 2) pro-no commissions, looks like ordinary exhange trading terminal. Also no support on this platform exist — you could write in the web form on site, but nobody will take care of your issues.
- Lykke. Easy to use interface. 0 trading and deposit comissions. Honest in terms of rewards. Trading interface is the same as in Coinbase Pro. The only issue-abruptly stopped to accept deposits in USD.
- Bittrex Team. Never managed to be approved for fiat currency deposit on this exchange-I’ve tried everything, provided IDs from Russia, UAE, Italy, etc… The support team has asked for new and new evidences of address, bank account, etc…
- Kraken Exchange. Has not manage to be authorized for fiat deposit neither. They are using the custody Etana, which abruptly stopped all communication with me.
