Tether and the City of Lugano have pledged up to CHF 5 million ($6.3 million) to enhance their Bitcoin initiative, with the goal of establishing Lugano as a global center for digital infrastructure. This effort builds upon the existing network of over 400 merchants in the city that currently accept Bitcoin and Tether’s USDT as part of their broader crypto adoption strategy. The investment is part of Lugano’s Plan ₿, which aims to integrate cryptocurrency into city services and economic activities.
