Carbon Black discovers Updated Malware – Altcoin Ninjas
Hey ninjas, how’s the trading going? It’s been a rather “rocky” week in the crypto-verse as the value of the top crypto’s traded sideways. In the last 24 hours, the value of most of the top 20 cryptocurrencies have depreciated, crypto’s like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripples XRP are reporting losses.
The largest cryptocurrency by market cap BTC is currently trading around $11,390 at press time, 3.78% below the value reported 24 hours ago. While other coins such as Litecoin and EOS are reporting gains in the last 24 hours.
Carbon Black cybersecurity company based in Waltham, Massachusetts published a reporting claiming that its threat analysis uncovered a hidden feature in a “well known crypto-mining campaign”. In the report the firm claims that the updated malware is now able to steal system access information, which could then be sold on the dark web, the attack has since been coined access mining.
Access mining is when an attacker makes use of commodity malware, to steal system access information. It was discovered that at least 500,000 computers have been affected.
