Blockchain at present! – Satyaki Mallick
The blockchain technology is picking up pace. The regions in Europe and America has taken up the technology and building really cool tech on top of that. India is lagging in this aspect and I believe the faster it picks up the technology the better.
The applications of Blockchain are not limited to cryptocurrencies. The Ocean Protocol, a startup by Trent McConaghy, is trying to bring all the data on the blockchain, so that there is no monopoly exercised by tech giants. Data can be sold on this blockchain-based public marketplace and individuals or companies can buy this data and run ML algorithms or mine the data for useful insights. This is a really cool idea I believe and which has strong future prospect. You can read further about it here — https://oceanprotocol.com/
Metamask, (which is funded by the ethereum community) is a browser extension, which “allows you to run Ethereum dApps right in your browser without running a full Ethereum node.” This basically means it will not load all the blocks in your local machine but you can still use the Ethereum blockchain.
I can recommend an fabulous reading material, “Blockchain Basics by Daniel Drescher” which I enjoyed reading, for anyone who is looking to step into this area. It develops the ideas from the very basic to what we see today. It will give you a solid base to build your ideas on top.
If you are interested in Ethereum and how solidity works, the book, “Introducing Ethereum and Solidity by Chris Dannen” is a good read which almost begins where Daniel Drescher finishes off, building on mining, mist, and solidity.
If you are interested in Bitcoin, the course in Coursera, “”Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies by Princeton University” seems like a good start.
There is lot of work and research going on the field and I hope this article has excited you enough to delve deeper into this tech. 🙂
Signing off,
Satyaki
