Transactions on Bitcoin’s Lightning Network have surged recently, with experts noting that larger transactions are becoming more common rather than the typical smaller purchases. In November, transaction volume on the Lightning Network reached $1.1 billion, significantly up from $286.5 million in the same month the previous year. This increase may be partly attributed to exchanges like Kraken facilitating large-value transactions, such as a notable $1 million transfer. Additionally, the Lightning Network’s appeal lies in its cost-effectiveness and enhanced privacy compared to traditional Bitcoin transactions and competing platforms. This trend is further supported by Block integrating Lightning into Square terminals, making it easier for merchants to accept Bitcoin payments.
