BHP Group has announced a silver streaming agreement with Wheaton Precious Metals International Ltd, which involves a US$4.3 billion upfront payment upon completion. Under this deal, BHP will supply silver from its share of output from the Antamina mine in Peru, a significant polymetallic site that also produces copper, zinc, and molybdenum. Wheaton will pay 20% of the spot price per ounce for the delivered silver, a move that is part of a broader strategy where such partnerships provide immediate funding to mining firms without requiring equity dilution.
