Are You Brave Enough? – Passive Crypto
We’ve all been scrolling through our news feed and seen the ads “8 Way You Can Make Money Sitting on Your Couch.” If you’re anything like me, then you’re very skeptical of those ads because most every way doesn’t work the way it’s advertised. I was lucky to find two apps that actually worked from ads like that, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
While scrolling Facebook, I got a message from a coworker telling me about this new internet browser, Brave, that supposedly is more secure and private than Google Chrome. I hear that everywhere, so I wasn’t in any rush to download the browser. Then I heard that you can make money off of it. Just like with any of those other ads, I was skeptical of this one, but I did a bit of research. On Reddit, someone posted a screenshot of a headline saying that Brave had passed 40 million downloads on android platforms, and that it can make you up to and more than $15/month. While that doesn’t sound like a lot of money, it’s all in Cryptocurrency, so its value can increase as time goes on.
Brave is kind of cool because it offers cryptocurrency just by your browsing the web. By scrolling through Facebook or Twitter, or by watching videos on Youtube, you can earn BAT, basic attention tokens. Currently, BAT trades for about $.16 per coin, which really isn’t too bad. Bitcoin started out trading for less than $.003 per coin and is now worth almost $7,000 per coin, so there’s no telling how much BAT may be worth one day.
To make sure I wasn’t missing out on free money, I downloaded the Brave browser (I’m actually using it right now to write this article). It works just as well as Chrome does and uses far less RAM to run. Functionality-wise, there’s no noticeable difference between Brave and Chrome.
When I started writing this article, I had made $.02 since last night at around 4 PM. I may have spent 20 minutes on my computer once the browser was downloaded. A coworker of mine has been using Brave for quite some time. So far this month, he has earned more than 12 BAT, as seen below.
Although Brave may not give you very much money, it’s still money, and Brave works just as well as Chrome.
We constantly see new products entering markets and trying to win customers over. That may be what Brave is doing, but does that really matter? If Brave works as well as I’ve experienced, then it doesn’t matter if they’re just buying customers. There’s currently over 350,000 content creators using Brave to publish their works. That number is continuing to grow as well. Below are some charts showing the growth of the browser on a few major medias.
These charts show continuous growth since Brave’s creation. While it may not be soon, Brave may actually overtake Chrome as the top browser. If Chrome would start offering their own cryptocurrency for continued use of the browser, then it would stay on top. Since that’s not the case yet, who knows what will happen?
Brave’s increasing popularity is a good thing for cryptocurrency. Because of Brave, more people are being introduced to the world of cryptocurrency and block chain. Like me, many people are coming to Brave for the free crypto offered by just browsing. Had it not been for my coworker, I would have never discovered Brave or the benefits it offers.
