Anthropic unveils Fast Mode for Claude Opus 4.6, offering lower latency at premium pricing

Anthropic has introduced a Fast Mode feature for its Claude Opus 4.6 platform, which enhances output token speed by 2.5 times without altering the model’s underlying weights. To promote experimentation with this new feature, Anthropic is offering $50 in free extra usage to all current Claude Pro and Max users, specifically to be used in this fast mode. While the fast mode offers significant improvements in token throughput, it comes with higher costs and separate rate limits to ensure consistent performance. The feature can be toggled in Claude Code and the API, though it is not available on some third-party hosting services.
