Aave proposal clears initial vote, eyed for improvements

Solution worse than problem? Adam Back opposes BIP-110 Ordinals fix

Aave founder Stani Kulechov announced that a controversial proposal aimed at structural improvements has passed an initial vote, garnering over 52% support from the Aave DAO. This proposal, which would redirect revenue from Aave-branded products to the DAO while compensating Aave Labs with $25 million for development, has sparked significant debate among DAO members, with some prominent delegates threatening to boycott discussions due to concerns about Labs’ growing influence. The proposal follows a recent decision to amend the timeline for moving users to the upcoming Aave v4 protocol, which is currently undergoing security audits and promises enhanced revenue models beyond those of the existing v3 protocol, known for its dominance in the DeFi space.
